Do I need a visa for staying in Dubai for 34 hours

I'm stopping over in Dubai for one night only on my way to Europe. I'm getting some different info online.

Someone said I can do visa on arrival if I'm a PR holding Chinese passport. Others said I have to preapply for a visa.

Emirates website even says they hotels can get the visa for me if it's within 36 hours and if I book hotels from Emirates airline.
However when I called them this morning, they seem confused about my question although this is clearly written in their website.

Anyone fly with Emirates to Europe did a one night stopover in Dubai for less than 36 hours? Please help! Thanks.

政策：作为东西方航线的热门中转站，迪拜机场海关提供96小时的过境签证，但需由航空公司提出申请并提供担保及出示酒店预订单和个人行程单，其中阿联酋航空提供的这项服务最方便快捷，其他经迪拜转机的航空公司也提供此类服务。一般游客到迪拜机场后，只需先到航空公司的柜台办理，并领取一本叫做“Visa Sponsorship &Passenger Service Coupon for Dubai Stop Over”的小册子，同时交纳签证费等就可以凭小册子出关，海关会在护照上盖出境章。

特别提醒：记得要提前在预订机票时向航空公司提出过境签证申请，行程单上要清楚列明你将要停留的时间和行程。一般游客在享受航空公司提供的签证服务时，也必须选择入住航空公司提供的酒店。要特别注意的是，如果在迪拜境内停留时间超过24小时，就必须预订两晚酒店，依此类推。不过，迪拜酒店服务很好，一般在机场办理手续时，酒店也会派车前往接送，一出机场门就可上车去酒店，相当方便。

费用：需缴纳签证费75美元、入境费51美元以及酒店费，最便宜一晚85美元。

Thanks. My wife holds Chiense passport. The emirates website actually have a link in "manage your booking" section, which allows us to apply for a visa for around 67 dollars.

However I'm trying to work out if we can get hotel sponsored visa as we're staying less than 36 hours. The emirates website says the visa cost nothing in this case.
