hmm, that' is a little bit worry.
My Luffy has broken toe on his left front leg. He can basically walked after 2 weeks and jump up and down when he is wearing bandage.
But Vet still insist it will take 6 to 8 weeks to have fully recover and we can't take dog outside to run or any other activities.
We have decided to stick with Vet recommend to have a full recovery for Luffy's leg.
Vet will also make another X-ray in couple of weeks to see how the leg it is.
Back to your story, your dog had issue before and it seems the original vet didn't take X-ray?
Once dog recover from injury, I wouldn't suggest to do much about that leg unless dog feels pain.
From dog's point of View, he is fine and run as usual. You don't need to worry too much unless dog is under pain when he walks.
8 yrs dog is a senior dog. I wouldn't take my Luffy to have unnecessary surgery plus, there maybe nothing you can do anyway.
