58. I is 3 letters away from L, L is 4 letters away from P, therefore we can guess that the letter we require is 5 letters away from P. U is the letter that is 5 away from P. We can test it by examining the rest of the letters. A should be 6 letters away from U. It is. Finally, H is 7 letters away from A, confirming the answer as U.

Here we see that G is the 7th letter of the alphabet. T, it’s corresponding letter in code, is the 7th letter from the end of the alphabet. Similarly H is the 8th letter of the alphabet while R, this time, is 9th letter from the end of the alphabet. O is the 15th letter of the alphabet and L is the 15th from the end of the alphabet. S is the 19th letter of the alphabet and G is the 20th letter from the end of the alphabet. T is the 20th letter of the alphabet and G is the 20th letter from the end of the alphabet.

Now, we can assume that the code works like this, for the 1st 3rd 5th etc. number, the code is like this:

A  B  C  D  E  F  G H  I J K L  M N  O  P Q R S T U V W X Y Z
Z  Y  X  W  V  U  T  S  R  Q  P  O  N  M  L  K  J  I  H  G  F  E  D  C  B  A

Therefore, the first P and the M in PUMP, become a K and N.

Then, we see that  for the 2nd 4th 6th etc. letters, they follow this code:

Here we learn that the U and second P become E and J respectively.

Therefore PUMP becomes KENJ
