Crime Stoppers
Woman injured in possible hit-run at Oakleigh East
A WOMAN is in an induced coma after being found injured by a road in a possible hit-and-run case in Melbourne.
Police said paramedics found the 68-year-old woman on the side of Clayton Road in Oakleigh East about 11amn Friday.
She allegedly told the paramedics she had been hit by a truck and it had failed to stop.
She was taken to The Alfred hospital where she remains in an induced coma.
Police were only told of the alleged collision on last night, when relatives reported it.
There have been no reports to Crime Stoppers, and no witnesses have come forward.
Sergeant Col Schmidt, of the Major Collision Investigation Unit, said it was unusual that police had not received any reports of such an incident on such a busy road.
"We are appealing for anyone who may be able to shed light on the collision to contact police," said .
"The woman is now in an induced coma and obviously unable to assist us with our inquiries so we are relying on information from the public to find out exactly what has happened."
Anyone with information is asked to contact Crime Stoppers.
