Full exemption for full members of a recognised professional accounting body
Available to Associate members of CPA Australia, who have a certificate of full membership of a recognised professional accounting body.
Applicants must be a member in good standing with a recognised professional body, and must be able to demonstrate this through submission of a letter from the professional body. This letter must be dated within 12 months of your application for recognition of prior experience.
To claim an exemption under this arrangement, members must: complete an application for recognition of prior experience; submit a certificate of full membership of the relevant professional body; and submit a letter from the professional body to confirm that they are a member in good standing.
If you believe you are eligible for a full exemption and can meet the regulations, you will not need to register for the Mentor Program. However, we strongly recommend you apply for exemption as soon as possible. This will provide you with certainty of your practical experience requirements for advancement to CPA status.
Under the CPA Australia Board decision of April 2006, full voting right members of the equivalent accounting bodies recognised by CPA Australia are eligible to claim full exemption from the Mentor Program. These professionals may also qualify as mentors.
