accounting professional insurance

大家好，我现在一个工作做part-time bookkeeper,但是是contractor，我有自己的ABN,今天老板突然问我有没有professional insurance，说如果没有的话，建议赶快去卖，因为是违规的，所以请问大家这个insurance是什么东东，一定要买吗，大概多钱，是不是那个保险公司都可以卖，如果是的话，能不能推荐一个最便宜的，跪谢

i believe he is speaking of Professional Indemnity insurance. it's usually based on your own turnover. the insurance is in place in case you get sued by your client

好象有这样的保险,具体不是很清楚,如果你做假帐就要被起诉,所以要本本份份做人,兢兢业业做事

i don't think it's illegal, just  a bit risky

it is low risk, but the issue here is that your boss want you to get it. will your employment be affected if you don't get it?

他没有说,不过他说没有是不合法的,我想如果没的话,可能就干不了了,

ask your boss how much is the PI insurance he pays for his employees. maybe he can get a discount for you through his insurance company.
i think a sydney based firm "Marsh" have some cheap PI insurance products, you can give the person a call and ask for a quote if you want, refer to the link below

I haven't used them myself, so i am not recommending them, it is only a suggestion, hope it is useful to you.
