"I'm a hard worker, I set high goals, my motto is: if you wanna win a lottery, you have to make the money to buy a ticket." Lou Bloom introduced himself when he was looking for a job.
Bloom liked the fine watch of a police who was interrogating him, he punched the police in the stomach, the next minute, he was driving his car in the dark with the watch on his wrist. The story started.
Watching his wide and deep sunken eyes radaring around, you’d never know what he would be doing next.
He learned that he could sell footages of crime scenes to “Breaking stories”, the morning TV news director Nina Romina told him, she wanted footages like a screaming woman running down the street with her throat cut, she wanted something people couldn’t turn away from.
One day, he and his assistant Rick got a chance to arrive at a home invasion before the police got there. He filmed everything including the shot dead bodies, the gunmen’s faces and even their car’s plate number. He hid the gunmen’s information from the police because he aimed at planning and filming even more breathtaking scenes…
As Rick said “You are crazy.” He really is!
Is Bloom greatly motivated and successful? Yes, but he is also an evil. Is Bloom guilty? Yes, but the police simply can’t arrest him. At the end of the movie, he and his group of new hires were setting off again, he shouted “I would never ask you to do anything that I wouldn’t do myself!”
Didn’t recognize The Broken Mountain star Jake Gyllenhaal as Lou Bloom in the first place, but I liked his voice and American accent, also the way he talked.
This is a great thriller you’d like to watch again and again, with its great theme song “I’d Love to Change the World.”
