持分请教 1P ticket的地方，需要挪车吗

I had an interesting conversation with a parking inspector in the melbourne CBD yesterday.

I had parked in a 1-hour meter parking zone. As I knew my time had expired, I headed back to put in some more coins and luckily saw the inspector checking my car. I told him that I intended to put more coins in and he proceeded to tell me that because my car had been there for the maximum 1-hour already, I would need to move it. Apparently Melbourne CBD now has sensor strips in the road and the council sends inspectors out to a space as soon as the time limit is up for that space.

I was under the impression that you were allowed to keep returning and topping up the meter??? I know that the inspector wasnt joking with me either as he gave a ticket to the car next to me, who still had 30+ minutes left on the meter.

Is this one of the laws that people think they know but have really had it wrong the whole time, or have they recently changed the definition of the law? The inspector was nice enough but when I queried the definition of the law he just laughed and pointed to the sign post and said "1-hour parking is 1-hour parking".

The time you can legally occupy a parking bay is shown on the parking sign and starts as soon as your car stops in the bay. For example, you may park for no longer than one hour in a 1P signed area. This requirement applies in all Australian states.

Can I top up or ‘feed the meter’ once it runs out?
You cannot insert more money into a parking meter or purchase another ticket to stay longer than the time permitted by the parking sign.

Once you have parked and paid for the maximum permitted time as shown on the parking sign, you must move your vehicle to another parking area.

If you did not initially pay for the maximum permitted time (for example, you paid for only one hour in a 2P signed area), you may add coins to the meter or place your new ticket beside the original ticket on your dashboard up to the maximum time shown on the sign (for example, you can pay for the remaining one hour allowed in the 2P area).

It is your responsibility to be parked for no longer than the time permitted by the parking sign.

I agree with you! 1 hour parking is 1 hour which makes sense to me!

当然要挪车，而且不能挪到同一个zone，最起码不能在同一个停车指示牌下面。

exactly, otherwise why didnt the council put sign as 10p (or even remove "1p" and leave the "ticket") to save everyone's time of commute for parking ticket renew?!
doesnt make any sense?!
