My baby has a slight issue with hip dysplasia when she was 8 weeks old and the pediatrician actually recommended that her legs be spread apart to promote correct alignment. So there are absolutely no issues with Ergobaby's design. If anything, it helps with development of the hip joint.
I started using Ergobaby (with insert) pretty much after the baby was born and was using it until my daughter was almost 2 yrs old. She was a light toddler though, only about 11 kgs at 20 months. The weight limit is slightly different with each brand/design, but the one I had could withstand up to 20 kgs.
I absolutely recommend Ergobaby, as the design is better for you, much of the weight is re-distributed to your hips, rather than your shoulders. Obviously, prolonged use will still be uncomfortable, but I think it's much better than baby bjorn. The only negative is that the baby/toddler can't face forward/outward, but most young babies prefer to be facing mum/dad anyway. |
