I feel very sorry to hear that and my sympathies are with your family.
Actually I think it's a very hard thing to do, to show your sympathy for your boss and his family. Any words cannot convey the comfort at this moment. But also, to offer if there is anything you can do for them, even though there is not, it's nice for them to know that you care and are sympathetic.
