Generally, the initial visa cost should be exempt from FBT under the relocation exemption. Therefore, your employer may provide that benefit to you without you paying anything and the employer pays no FBT. That applies to PR and 457 visa. Other relocation costs may qualify the exemption as well.
If your employer does not want to cover the cost, you can ask them to salary package as there is no FBT tax. Please bear in mind, they don't have to offer salary packaging.
If the visa is to extend your stay, i.e. you are already in Australia, it is not for relocation, no FBT exemption may apply. |
