The followings are for your reference:
"It can be done differently, a lot depends on employer, you have to get them to agree to reimburse you or else you will not get full benefit
A lot of employers ousource the salary packaging to specialists like www.smartsalary.com.au so they do not have to handle FBT transactions etc directly
For me ( figures are a bit rough but give you idea)
1) I purchase Laptop and submit application to employer ($2200)
2) Employer reimburses me for the cost ($2200)
3) My pre tax pay is reduced by the amount of FN repayment of GST exclusive cost of laptop ($2000) in my case 26 FN payments of $77
4) The amount of tax I pay decreases, as a consequence my net pay decreases by less than 3) tax on $2000 at marginal rate say 42% (2000*42/100/26) = $32 so net pay goes down by $45 (77-32)
5) Laptop costs me $1292 (26*45 + GST 200) and I can claim deduction for depreciation for business use over 3 years (40/40/20) - say 100% business use by 40% = $516" |
