Hope this helps:
The Messiah weighs in at 470 grams and with a 5500 at 350 grams its a good combo.
I use mine with a 5500 and 30 to 65 grams lures and sometimes with a 4500 and 20 gram lures for tailor, sambos and small kings. Its a great rod for bait fishing and I use it with a 6500, 2 to 4 ounces and bait up to pillie size, at distances of 20m to 60m, no real need to hit longer distances off Sydneys beaches.
I have cast the Messiah and measured the distances. The best I have got with it is 139m with 1 ounce and 152m over the weekend with 2 ounces, 4500 with .25 mainline, reel mounted low. 18 gram plug with a 4500, 96m. I have meaured the Messiah with some lures over grass and have some video somewhere, I will edit it and put it up on u-tube if your interested.
here is some old video of the Messiah over grass, 2 ounces low 140m casts

Fishing wise I think the Messiah is a great rod for Sydneys beaches, good weight, excelent bite detection and good to fight fish with. I have got sambos to 5.5kg, jew to 9.5kg. Casting wise I have rods that will out cast it on the 18 plug through to 3 ounces but for the fishing I do with it, its one of my favorite rods.
