Email from a friend's childcare centre re attempted abduction in Chatswood!

Please be aware of the information below I have received from a neighbouring centre in Chatswood in relation to child safety.

Important safety message to all families!
To ensure everyone’s safety I just wanted to let all families know that one of our preschool children experienced an attempted abduction last Thursday. The preschool child was holding the pram pushed by his mother when a man approached from behind and tried to snatch/take the child. The man tried a second time, even with mum aware and placing her child between herself and the pram.
The incident that occurred at lunchtime in Chatswood mall has been reported to the police. The mother has also provided police with a description of the man.
Please be very aware of where your child/children are particularly whilst walking through public areas.

To ensure everyone’s safety we just want to let all families know that a preschool child experienced an attempted abduction last Thursday at Chatswood.
The incident occurred at lunchtime in Chatswood mall in the vicinity of Gloria Jeans. The incident has been reported to the police. The mother has also provided police with a description of the man.
Please be very aware of where your child/children are particularly whilst walking through public areas. The man has been described as:
Anglo 30 year old male
Overweight with tummy hanging over shorts
Shaggy brown hair
Wearing baggy blue knee length shorts (last Thursday).
He had a lecherous look at the child with his tongue hanging out.
Keep your children close and safe.
