It is not hard. My current job has the duty to process the payroll but I did tell them that I don't have exp to process the payroll when I had interview. However, the manager said that it is just easy to do it with training. Unfortunately, he has been sacked only two mth after I started to work and he only showed me the payroll twice.
For the payroll, someone in the company that you are applying for should set up everything already. You will see the different people under the different departments. Also they have set up the fix base salary amount, allowance and working hour for each person. The PAYG can be calculated by the payroll system. The super is same. The thing that you need to be carefull is the bonus and commission or some uncertain amounts as those pay items will be approved based on different department's manager and the amount will be different each pay run. You will need to manually select the pay items and add the amount in there.
When you have new employee, you will need to add this employee into the proper department, working hours, hour rate, percentage of the super, annual leave and sick leave rules, BSB and account number. it is really straightforward as you can just select from each function.
Also after you processed all of the employee's payroll, you need to create a payment bunch which is ABA file and you will need to save this ABA file into your computer's drive and you will need to go to your company's banking system to upload this ABA file so that the payment will be done to everyone's bank account by direct payment method.
For the super, you can check ATO's website (refer to important date) to see the due date for the superannuation SGC payment date. The company can choose mthly payment method or Quarterly payment method and due date will be shown from ATO website.
Please feel free to ask me more questions! Sorry! I am just about doing mth end and hope this will help you a bit. |
