从·2011 起 naplan 写作改成persuasive style of writing
ACARA (the Australian Curriculum Administration and Reporting Authority), the NAPLAN test administration authority has recently announced that the 2011 NAPLAN writing test will be changed from narrative to persuasive.
This announcement came after all Australian Education Ministers at a Ministerial Council for Education, Early Childhood Development and Youth Affairs (MCEECDYA) meeting agreed to the change of writing style in April.
In 2008, 2009 and 2010 NAPLAN Writing tests, students in Years 3, 5, 7 and 9 were required to write a particular type of narrative, a story.
In the 2011 NAPLAN Writing test, all students in Years 3, 5, 7 and 9 will write a persuasive text. Under a persuasive style of writing, the writer must convince someone of his or her point of view or opinion. The persuasive task may be more or less difficult than the narrative task, depending on the skill levels of the group of students assessed.
Persuasive writing and other non-narrative forms of writing covered by the curriculum are increasingly used as students progress through school. ACARA explained that testing non-narrative writing means that NAPLAN is testing a broader range of what is taught in the curriculum, not just one area.
The announcement provides sufficient time and opportunity for teachers to prepare their students for the change for the next NAPLAN test in May 2011, in considering of those children in Year 2 this year, who may have yet been taught about persuasive writing.
It is also promised that testing authorities in the states and territories will support schools to help them prepare their students for the change.
