Elizabeth Vale Primary School

TWO more South Australian teachers stand accused of improper conduct over the national NAPLAN school tests.
A senior teacher at Elizabeth Vale Primary School has denied an allegation of improper supervision, while a teacher at Rostrevor College at Woodforde has been accused of giving students advance notice of a test topic, AdelaideNow reports.
Education Minister Jay Weatherilll announced a short time ago that the allegations were being investigated
"The two staff involved have been stood down pending investigations into the matters," he said.
"The alleged incident at Elizabeth Vale Primary School involves the provision of inappropriate help o students while supervising the tests.
"The information we have at the moment is that the alleged conduct affected one NAPLAN test nvolving two composite Year 3 and 4 classes.
"It is important to note that this allegation of improper supervision has been denied.
"It must now be established whether the conduct involved in this case means improper assistance as given to students.
However, as a precaution the students involved in the test will be asked to resit an equivalent test.
"Parents of the children are being advised today about the need for the test to be re-administered."
"The Catholic Education Office has advised that the incident at Rostrevor College involves an allegation that a class was given advance notice of a test topic. This matter is being managed by ostrevor College with the support of the Catholic Education Office.
The two incidents follow a single incident last week when a teacher at St Leonards Primary School admitted to altering test answers. The teacher was stood down from duty and an investigation is ontinuing.
Mr Weatherill said there was nothing to suggest there were widespread issues with NAPLAN testing.
"More than 70,000 students have undertaken NAPLAN tests in about 720 schools in South Australia nd thousands of teachers have been involved in administering them," he said.
"Its disappointing that two further incidents have arisen but the fact that theyve come to light has allowed us to deal with this conduct and remedy any effect on the testing." |
