Who does not need a travel exemption
You can enter Australia without applying for a travel exemption if you are in an exempt category. You are in an exempt category and do not need to apply for a travel exemption if you:
are an Australian citizen or permanent resident of Australia
are a New Zealand citizen usually resident in Australia. For more information see New Zealand citizens
are an immediate family member of an Australian citizen, permanent resident or New Zealand citizen usually resident in Australia. For more information see immediate family
are transiting Australia for 72 hours or less
are a diplomat accredited to Australia, including immediate family members, when each member of the family unit holds a valid subclass 995 visa
are airline crew including general aviation crew, medevac or ambulance crew
are maritime crew including marine pilots (excluding crew on cruise ships, large passenger vessels, smallcraft and superyachts)
are a person recruited under the Government approved Seasonal Worker Program or Pacific Labour Scheme
hold a Business Innovation and Investment visa (subclass 188)
hold a Temporary Activity visa (subclass 408) in the Post COVID-19 Economic Recovery Event’ stream and are supported by the Global Business and Talent Attraction Taskforce
are invited or sponsored by the Australian Defence Force or the Department of Defence to undertake military activities
have a prescribed status and are seeking to enter Australia on a Special Purpose visa
are a temporary visa holder who does not come under another exempt category but who meets Australia’s definition of fully vaccinated for international travel purposes
Who we consider to be an immediate family member
You can travel to Australia if you are an immediate family member of:
an Australian citizen
an Australian permanent resident (permanent visa holder)
a New Zealand citizen who is usually resident in Australia.
You are only considered to be an immediate family member if you are a:
spouse
de facto partner
dependent child
parent/legal guardian of a dependent child.
You must provide evidence to have your relationship confirmed before you can enter Australia. |
