I went to the Con! I can answer this and finally be a little help here
The above is true, students came from all over Sydney and used all the public transport available. Ferries, Trains and Buses, in my day at least, the majority arrived to CQ and made the trek uphill, just make sure the travelling case is not too heavy if your child has a large instrument. And then the uphill battle never ended until we come down again

如果又想学音乐，又想成绩好，这个学校应该很好的，学校很小，报名是自己到学校网站另外报名，不占精英中学名额。

这学校自主招生，但申请者得参加selective 考试并提供成绩

想考当然要试一下， 不过精英中学考试成绩占绝对比重。  学校较小，所以如果没打算让孩子走音乐职业的话，可能不是好的选择。毕竟，时间有限，当把学习成绩和音乐都搞得不错的时候，再玩其它的就非常辛苦了，比如体育。

This school is good for students who have a strong passion in music, they do not necessarily need to want a career in the industry, infact our alumni have a wide range of careers, surgeons, psychologists, engineering, teachers (many teachers).

Anyway what you must remember is that those who are successful are expected to be very strong in music and studies. Not much time for other things, which means you need to make sure that your child falls within the category of being passionate about music. If they are, then practise and music studies will not be a chore and the school will be an awesome experience that no money can buy. If not then they will feel inadequate, as it is extremely intense to be expected to be the best in your craft and do well at school.

Basic test - there is a duo on youtube, channel: twosetviolin, Con students would easily relate to this channel, if your child thinks they want to be around people like that for the next 6 years, opinionated but lots of laughs, in-jokes and musical fun, then they will enjoy the Con too I think. And if they choose to go, rest assured, your child will grow up to be confident (soooo confident ), outspoken, full of character and ready for the world, they will have been part of one of the most exclusive schools in Sydney and that will be with them for life.

音乐好的话很容易考，分数应该不高，好多外国小孩考。我就是不喜欢他的教室都在地底下。

我也看 two set，好 funny，特别是他们描述的华裔家长，太传神！我经常跟儿子学里面的 Joke 对话，也算是我们之间的小乐趣之一。

说回 con 的确是个好学校，音乐资源和设施都很厉害。不过孩子真的要喜欢音乐才行，这样上学会很 enjoy. 精英中学考试要参加，成绩要不错，另外乐器演奏要面试一次。里面多数孩子是学两门以上乐器的，学生比较少，分三个 house：巴赫、贝多芬和勃拉姆斯。我记得悉尼大学音乐系也在那里，不知道对不对。

我女儿的小提琴老师时那里毕业的，又读了音乐学院的本科和硕士，特别单纯对音乐特别有热情。但是看得出穷的叮当响

我们的钢琴老师那里毕业的，家里贴满了A+的荣誉证书和顶级音乐学院的scholarship证书。我觉得她收入非常好，学生多得都收不过来，孩子们也都很喜欢她，觉得她很有实力和感染力

我感觉教乐器赚的不多吧，除非hour rate 特别高，或者时间安排得特别好，studio在中间抽成挺厉害的，上门教路上花很多时间。他家在阿德雷德，跟7个人合租，又是那种很文艺的样子，不是很organized

也有可能他的注意力在其他方面，一直希望能在乐团有个好位置。可能我太俗了，不能理解艺术家的追求，不应该随便点评人家。非常好的老师，非常好的小伙子

总之音乐的路不容易走，只有金字塔尖的才走得顺遂一些。所以华人家长虽然推乐器的多，但是一听到孩子要走专业路线都吓得不轻。
Sigh,我也是这个想法，这个行业没有过人天赋空有热情真的会很辛苦。

音乐上最有竞争力的一小撮应该还是会选择私立的音乐奖学金，非音乐专科学校的氛围对小孩成长也更有利，因为有不同类别的学生。说老实话在澳洲这类音乐学院附中很容易考的，和有音乐传统的老牌私立学校的音乐奖学金相比就更显得容易了。

I don't disagree with this, the con really is for children whose no.1 passion is music, they will thrive there. Everybody else will just be in for a rollercoaster ride for the next 6 years. A normal school provides a more balanced life. Con is really fun and an incredible experience for music nerds (if I may), there is absolutely no other school like it, BUT your child must be a musical NUT to "enjoy" it. Don't just go because your child is 8th grade/Amus etc, only consider if your child wont stop playing. Like, for the love of God just STOP already! kind of playing. Con kids often make music for fun, not play games, shoot hoops etc, they sing, jam, 4 hands, compose and the like and if not, they should be, because the ones who do are the ones who rock! The jocks here are those who compose pieces for a full orchestra whilst they are studying their HSC and acing their instruments. Then score high Atar and become a doctor of something. It's really not for everyone, these days so many people play an instrument, you need to be pretty special to do well at the con. So if you're ever given the opportunity to go, do still consider it very seriously because it is a spectacular ride.

从来没有统一的分数线，但就我知道的有已经被nsbh, normanhurst, penrith第一志愿录取的

应该没有具体的分数线，有乐器的面试，再加上精英的考分，变数很大的，取决于的乐器的面试的成绩，还有你的竞争者的成绩，所以很难说分数线是什么，因为名额太少额，感觉都是case by case,有不算很熟的朋友的女儿考上了，不肯说具体的精英考分，但感觉是190到200
