To be honest, the underlying problem is our over-reliance on assessing our children's success based on assessments and exams stipulated by the department of education. As OP has said, there's always a compromise between objectivity and subjectivity. Therefore it's almost impossible to find an ideal solution to this issue of coaching colleges.
The most important thing for us as parents is to support the development of our children that transcends beyond current trends and affairs. When we were children, I don't believe our parents even knew you could take courses online, that you could be bullied online. So how could they have prepared us? How could the tutoring centres of our generation help?
We need to identify what is critical for our children as best as we can. Selective schools are not the be all end all of all education. We should think carefully about how we define success because that will influence how our children will define success. |
