Well to be honest, you have to be honest :)
In a standard situation the reply should be - Well, it was a hard decision as I have made many friends there and gained respect of my peers (to show you have people skills). I have been at my old company for a number of years now, during my time there I have learnt a lot of things (to show you have gained years of relevant experience) and feel that I would like to explore my horizon in a new company (such as yours) because I want to take up new challenges and strive for another level of acheivement (to show that u always aiming for higher aspirations)
If you were made redundant but you have a really good relationship with your ex-boss, you can still use the above reasoning and just ask him to cover your ass.
If you were made redundant and you can't get him to cover your ass, it would be better to own up but use excuses like that your old company had to downsize, therefore had to outsource their, accounting, design, IT off-shore + the above answer |
