Follow the MingDeng, I provide the list of code you should have a look.
Basicly, we call ourselves Civil / Structural Engineer,
Civil parts mainly is concrete footings, precast concrete, you donot need know too much about seweage, or drainge, cause we are civil/structural, not civil engineer.
Strcutural parts mainly is steel structure for industry engineer, include portal frame, conveyor gantry, trestle, GTU, stacker, reclaimer........
So the code need:
AS4100-Steel structure
AS3600-Concrete structure
AS1170-Loading code
AS1657-platform,ladder (if you are with a experienced draft man, you donot need this code, draftman does for you)
AS1418 - crane code
AS1554-Welding code (generally have a look, that's welding engineer's job, but you have to have a look
Software you need.
Spacegass - easy shit software for design and analysis, most australian company use it
Microstran- same as spacegass
Strand7 - FEA,
Limcon - for steel connection design
Prokon - For concrete slab, got heaps function, but I only use to design concrete slab
Staad pro - I suggest you have a look, I think this is the best structural software in the world, and you can get staad from internet, big company all start to use Staad, and next year they will update connection parts, currently only support USA standard/ |
