White Hat Hackers, also known as Ethical Hackers, are Computer Security experts, who specialise in penetration testing, and other testing methodologies, to ensure that a company's information systems are secure. Such people are employed by companies where these professionals are sometimes called sneakers.[citation needed] Groups of these people are often called tiger teams.[2] These Security experts may utilise a variety of methods to carry out their tests, including social engineering tactics, use of Hacking tools, and attempts to evade security to gain entry into secured areas.

A white hat is the hero or good guy, especially in computing slang, where it refers to an ethical hacker who focuses on securing and protecting IT systems.

Black hats （黑客） are hackers who are more interested in technical challenges. They don't really care about law and order.

White hats are so called "ethical" hackers. But really ethical hacker is an oxymoron. White hats are guns for hire to pretend to be attackers to sniff out the weaknesses in a company's or country's security. They act like responsible citizens in real life.

Then there is 红客, which is the chinese version of white hat, only difference is they say they act on the pretext of national interest.
