我也觉得租好。小孩子不断长大，要不停换琴的。因为手会长长。换了新琴，旧琴就没用了。

琴行放出租的琴零售也就100-200元左右，这个价位的学生琴也就仅仅能凑合用。 如果只是学校里学一年混混，倒也实惠，但是如果想认真学，这样的琴到了5级以上基本就无法用。 一个尺寸的小提琴大概可以用2年。

The 1/4 violin my son is using cost me about 500. It is a second hand one. After playing a year on this, his teacher is already saying it is not good for him. You better not to get those 100 dollar ones as they are not playable. Of course, if your kid is very young and only on 1/8 or smaller size, you may get those ones as most of them won't be able to play much anyway at very young age. The rental ones are generally no good.

2年前500块还能买个不错的入门学生琴，现在澳币跌的惨不忍睹，同样的琴加上运费都要翻倍。

而且我认为分数学生琴到了这个价位以后，买把好一点的弓比买更贵的琴对孩子的帮助更大。  但在澳洲很难买到

This is true. if you get a $2000 1/2 violin, you need to pay $400 for a bow. But for this price, except for the fiber glass bow, like codabow, it is almost impossible to find any timber bow in Australia.

你孩子用codabow?  一把入门级的也要400块左右了，还只能用2年。  佩服！

No. He is playing on a 1/4 but will move onto 1/2 size maybe next year. I will let me to play a bit more on the 1/4 before giving him the 1/2 which is a hand made by an Australian maker in Melbourne. Still thinking whether to order a bow from China for the similar amount of a codabow. For 2000RMB, I can get a good timber bow from China.

He is starting to complain his violin and bow which to a degree is good sign of progression. I talked to the maker in person and he also told me the importance of a good bow. You are very right.

what level is he playing?  

my d currently plays a 1/4 violin too.  She started complaining about her bow （the kind comes with a not-too-bad violin) when learning  pieces which require more sophisticated bowing technique.  it makes me realize the importance of investing a bit more on a good bow.

He studied for a year since 5. He is currently playing Grade 2 and 3 pieces plus some Wohlfahrt studies. His teacher was a violinist with MSO some years ago. She is also saying his violin is not good which is a Gliga 3. Before buying this one, I tried the Chinese factory one called Reggeti, a bit cheaper than Gliga but not good. He is using the FPS bow which I think is only a bit better than a firing stick.
Once he moves to 1/2, I will have to find something much better.

Not necessary if you don't want your kid to play piano as main instrument. Piano can help the accuracy of the pitches when playing violin as it is a tuned instrument. Maybe can also help the kid in terms of harmony. If pitch is the concern, you can just use a keyboard.

My son's teacher suggested him to learn a bit after almost a year as supplement.

我今天接待的客户是个老外教小提琴大提琴的，帮学生家长来挑小提琴的， 1/4 ,$129非常满意。
不知$400块的弓啥样，如果不是在这样的店里工作，看到这样的评论我是不敢让我女儿学小提琴的。

再贵的琴，拉不好也白搭，举个例子，隔壁jenny 06 家的孩子，在破钢琴上练的钢琴人家也得了奖，所以说能负担好琴当然是好了，但是家长们可以根据财力选择，要知道拉琴的那个人，才是灵魂，没有非贵琴练不出来的事

我觉得一节课要100才是高负担吧

小提琴是最坑爹的乐器。 500块是入门学生琴。随着孩子水平的提高，琴的价格马上double, 再double, 几何级数增长。  如果到了能去参加比赛的水平，基本上自己都买不起了，要去跟专门的收藏家或基金会借。  不像钢琴，最贵的音乐会用D型Steinway也不过十几万。 小提琴是没底的。

True. It is not worth to let the kid to play poor quality violin while paying weekly tuition. When they are starting, they need a violin that can tolerate their skill level and not to make to terrible sound. That does cost a bit. When they start to progress, they then need a violin with quality. The savings of a few hundred is a small amount if you compare with the tuition you pay. There is material difference in sound quality between a 200 dollar violin and a 1000 dollar one. Same thing for the bow. Of course, the kid need to have some skills to feel that difference.

My son's teacher was a professional player. I think the violin she used would be around 30-40k, as she told me the bow is about 7-10k. So if our kids can get into the symphony as a professional, they should be ok to buy one.

孩子有同学学小提琴，开始几个都是国内买的学生琴，连琴带弓加上琴盒没有超过五百人民币的。人家从三级到八级，一路A＋，到full size了，家里给买了个欧洲琴，老贵了，一万多。
