Assignment 1 Task
You are to reference the NCC / BCA and answer the following questions

Analyse and apply a range of solutions to a construction problem for compliance with the BCA. Using Section 3 of the BCA Volume 2 You are to check over the provided plan for compliance with DTS and provide a report for solutions to problems discovered. Your report need only cover the area’s listed below. Soil Class is M, masonry veneer clad home, built over 30 years ago.
1. Reinforced strip footing system is what’s nominated on the plan adequate for a site Class M if not specify required size and reinforcement. Explain your answer.
2. The plan does not show any fire protection or smoke alarm requirements, what is required if we assume that the house is a minimum 5 metres from all boundaries except the bedroom / bathroom wall which is a parallel set back of 700mm from it boundary. Explain your answer.
3. The new owner has requested installation of an open brick fire place and brick chimney to the living room external wall, describe what is required to comply with DTS. Explain your answer.
4. The new owner has requested installation of polished floor boards to the bathroom can this be done?
Explain why or why not referring to NCC BCA Part 3.8
5. The new owner has requested installation of and air conditioning system that requires ductwork install in the hall area against the ceiling up to the kitchen; this allows registers to enter all rooms off the hallway. This requires the hall ceiling to be reduced in height, what is the minimum it can be reduce from its current height of 2400mm. Explain your answer.
6. Does the current WC comply with the BCA Part 3.8.3? or 3.8.5 Explain your answer.
7. The front and back doors access are about 500mm above the ground outside; do they require landings or handrails to be installed? Explain your answer.
8. Regarding W1 and natural lighting to the bathroom does the window comply? Explain your answer
