警察们已经开始说,不愿意去驱赶人群和关闭playground。 还挺人性化的。
Victorian police: keeping people off playgrounds is 'not something we signed up to do'
The Victoria Police Association has taken a veiled swipe at the Andrews government over the closure of playgrounds as part of tougher COVID-19 restrictions in Victoria.
The move was announced on Monday by the Premier Daniel Andrews in response to what he said was a lack of compliance with the regulations.
Police Association secretary Wayne Gatt said making officers enforce the closures risked damaging the relationship between police and the community.
“Governments come and go but the police force remains and endures forever and we need to make sure that connection with community stays strong,” he told ABC Radio Melbourne.
“We don’t have to take a big stick to the community every time we try to educate and seek compliance.
“Please don’t assume that our members will be bursting out of their beds this morning to do this. It’s not something they signed up to do, it’s not something that drives them.”
Mr Gatt said officers would not refuse to enforce the closures, but they didn’t want to lose people’s confidence.
“If we lose the trust and confidence of the community because we are so black and white because we enforce rules without thought, if we act like robots, then what happens is the community will lose their trust in police.”
