小学版的 儿童必读英文书籍大推荐（本帖的书都有阅读年龄标记）- 幼龄和小学部分 反响很好，人民群众喜闻乐见，呵呵。
我们大部分人英文程度达不到如同在母语环境里对中文图书一样对英语世界的图书典籍有较深的了解，所以相互交流相互取经很重要。
小学版的那个帖子是挺好，但是美中不足的是到了后面变成我唱独角戏，大家光看不发言不推荐了。。。

现在中学版也开一个类似的帖子，提供给中学生家长交流交流，可以是你自己来写写，或者让你家孩子来写写推荐都行。
要求最好是自家孩子看过的推荐，要有内容介绍（最好是中文的），有感想或者杂感轶事什么的更好，要写上适合的大致年龄或者年级段，附上书皮插图更好。

本帖的目的想通过各位的努力，让中学生的优秀和流行英文读物也可以在新足迹慢慢积累起来，让各位都能受益，这里先谢谢大家了。

有空不忙的时候记得来写写，既记录了你自家孩子读书心得，有顺带帮助了其他家长。

我先带头好了。

最近我女儿看了一本书【Endurance: Shackleton's Incredible Voyage】，是一本类似于传记体裁的探险故事，非小说类的。
作者叫Alfred Lansing，美国人，1959年出版的畅销作品，很有名。

故事是真人真事，说的是爱尔兰探险家Sir Ernest Shackleton在1914-1916年间带领“Endurance”船在南极第二次大规模探险，准备徒步穿越南极大陆的的经历。

坚忍号”(Endurance)于1914年8月1号从伦敦出发。全体船员一共28人。这次探险的目标是徒步横穿南极大陆。

事实上，这次又没成功。在行进过程中，浮冰将“坚忍号”团团围住，使它寸步难行。Shackleton和船员不得不弃船搬到浮冰上，在10个月后于1915年11月船沉入海底。此时，Shackleton只有一个愿望：把全体船员一个不少的活着带回去。
在随后的5个月里，他们28人登上了一块巨大的浮冰，这块浮冰随着时间的推移不断的碎裂，并慢慢的变小了。1916年4月9日，浮冰彻底碎裂了，3艘来自“坚忍号”的救生船被迅速推到海上。在海上经历了7昼夜的危险之后，他们登上了荒无人烟的象岛，此时据探险队出发已过去497天。
因为象岛是一个远离商船航线的孤岛，没有任何人会路过象岛，最终Shackleton没有选择坐以待毙，他挑选了另外5名最强壮的船员乘上最大的救生艇，向东南偏东横渡约1300公里（800英里），来到了南乔治亚岛以寻求救援，这一史诗般的航行在气候极端恶劣的海上持续了16天，凭借航海经验和运气，Shackleton和5名船员抵达了南乔治亚岛并在风暴中强行上岸。上岸后，Shackleton不得不徒步翻越南乔治亚山脉，去寻找捕鲸站以寻求帮助。
1916年5月20日下午3点，Shackleton和他的两个伙伴挣扎着走到最近的一个捕鲸站。在晚餐时分，挪威捕鲸人向他们表示了敬意。到达捕鲸站的3天后，他们登上了一艘捕鲸船，开始了解救围困在大象岛上的同伴的行动。
在8月30号，经过第4次的尝试，他终于找到了一条从浮冰上穿过的路，发现他的所有的22个同伴都安然无恙的留在岛上。每个人都从南极获救了。

这本书其实是在讲一个失败者的故事，因为如果以目标是否实现来作为衡量成功的标准的话，Shackleton几乎所有的探险都是不成功的。
然而，作为一个领导者，Shackleton无疑是非常出色的。他对探险队队友的无限尊重，信任和关爱都闪耀着光芒。他的一位队友称他为“世间最伟大的领导者”。
在带领“Endurance”期间，他把所有队员安全带回时，他的领导才能达到了新的顶峰。
Shackleton能使队员们在极端逆境下充满希望。

一位英国探险家说过一段有名的话来评价南极的探险者：“若想要科学探险的领导，请斯科特来；若想要组织一次冬季长途旅行，请威尔逊来；若想组织一次快速而有效率的探险，请Amundsen来（他是第一个到达南极的人）；若是你处在毫无希望的情景下，似乎没有任何解决办法，那就跪下来祈求Shackleton吧！”

完全不知道为什么忽然看如此乏味的书，不过中学生都要读的吧，朱版会把沙剧包括在内吗？

孩子学校有个什么reading challenge，上面有Y1-Y6的book list. 上百本书，不同年级都有。不知道中学生，有没有这样的。

关于中文书，我女儿现在是中学生了，很骄傲地说现在还时不时读一下幼齿学龄前儿童中文读物

中学生也有的，7-9每个年级都有很长的书单。但是我看个头就没兴趣滚鼠标了。
和其他网上多如牛毛的书单一样，这是都是光有个名字，其实对我们来说毫无用处。

有中文的简介，年龄的分类和读后感之类的东西对我们华人家长才是有价值的，我希望新足迹的书单不单单是个书名而已。
希望各位都来支持。

小K太牛了！怎样才能培养孩子看名著的兴趣呢？

我女儿每次让她读些名著都嫌boring，看不下去。最近在迷Meg Cabot，号称要把她写的每一本书都看完。

我们也很久不碰中文书了。上次家长会的时候中文老师特意提了让她多看些中文书，中文电视什么的。我正在想找些什么中文书给她看她会有兴趣看下去呢？想当年我们这么大的时候特迷琼瑶，不知道给她看琼瑶合不合适？妈妈们有什么好的中文书推荐吗？

正在看macbeth，上星期天开始的，现在大概看了一半，他说看得很累，因为都是古英语（duh）。他看完我让他写个review，我抄上来挣分

。还让我买了king lear和hamlet，看他能坚持多久。

嘿嘿，一般小说书我都让她借。这里的书价贵，小说书一般只看一遍，看完就堆在家里，个人觉得实属浪费。

我女儿7年级时迷BBC的TV连续剧Merlin，然后就看了不少中世记和亚瑟王的传记。今年看了电影
A Series of Unfortunate Events 后开始看Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events 系列。她喜欢书中的3个小天才和作者的幽默。
他们学校的精读书是Fearless（7年级），考试是探讨书中引申出来的乌托邦（理想）社会和非理想社会。
8年级的是一本graphic novel by American cartoonist Art Spiegelman - Maus。背景是第二次大战犹太人在集中营的故事。书中把犹太人画成老鼠，美国人画成狗，德国人是猫，波兰人是猪。。。
我女儿说：我不懂为啥老师选的书都是悲惨兮兮的？我说那是因为你们太幸福了，不知道还有人曾经或正在水深火热之中。某人斜眼看我一下: 你是不是又要开始你的speech?

好贴！我们家这位最爱是Warriors系列，有好多本，都是她自己用pocket money买了收藏的。。。现在她自己也上warriors网站写同样风格的小说，貌似也有一批fans。。。改天我让她讲讲。
前阵子她看了Hunger Games第一第二，但她说描写的很一般，主要靠故事情节取胜。
她还喜欢Dragon keeper系列，一共三本。

中文书我以前从国内带过来的瑞典林格伦的小说中文翻译版《吵闹村的孩子》，《长袜子皮皮》，《米欧我的米欧》，还有安徒生童话，格林童话，她都挺喜欢的，但看得很慢，常常需要问我哪个字是什么。

这是个牛人啊，我小时候也看过他的书。

前一阵子，和女儿一起重新看了Will Smith的老电影【I, Robot】就是Isaac Asimov的同名小说改编的。
女儿过去没看过，看完说过瘾啊，2004年的电影现在再来看绝对不过时。

Isaac Asimov提到机器人三定律（Three Laws of Robotics），在电影里得到了具体的演绎。
第一法则机器人不得伤害人类，或袖手旁观坐视人类受到伤害；
第二法则除非违背第一法则，机器人必须服从人类的命令；
第三法则在不违背第一及第二法则下，机器人必须保护自己。

看完了和女儿讨论了一会会，这三条堪称完美的逻辑，好像无懈可击，但是好像问题也多多？
比如，
人命令机器人去杀人，虽然符合第二条，但是违背第一条，机器人拒绝服从命令。
再比如，
人命令机器人自杀，机器人如何反应？

一个问题，我女儿晕了，我自己也晕了。。。
两个人生死搏斗将造成相互伤害或者致命，第三方机器人路过，因为第一条，机器人不能任人受到伤害而无所作为，所以机器人要去保护人，那么机器人会保护谁？

那个电影的主演Will Smith说，这个电影的中心概念是，机器人没有问题，科技本身也不是问题，人类逻辑的极限才是真正的问题。

女儿最近看了美国作家Lois Lowry的第二本书【Number the Stars】，和她读的这个作家的第一本书【The giver】一样，这也是一本适合小学高年级和初中年级的儿童读物，其实也非常适合成人看，我也翻了翻，书很薄，英文浅显，我这样的水平也能看，很好的成人英文阅读入门书。

这本书故事情节蛮简单的，讲二次大战时期德军入侵丹麦，10岁的丹麦小女孩Annemarie Johansen和犹太人Ellen Rosen是好朋友，因为丹麦国王选择不抵抗，任由德国士兵出没在丹麦人的生活周围，他们虽然没有直接感受到战争，但是恐怖不安的阴影仍然笼罩着他们。不久后，德国人要“清理”居住在丹麦的犹太人，Ellen一家三口被迫分离，Annemarie家收留了Ellen，将她伪装成早已过世的长女Lise。然而，尽管度过德国人的追查，但是危机仍然无法避免，母亲决定带着Annemarie，妹妹Kirsti和Ellen，以探望住在海边的弟弟Henrik的名义，协助犹太人逃到当时仍是自由的瑞典（中立国）。

作者Lois Lowry凭借此书第一次得到Newbery Medal（1990），四年后她以The Giver第二次获得Newbery金奖。她善于将严肃的主题，深入浅出，用一个故事包装，介绍给儿童或青少年。。。

书中有个地方最让人印象深刻，当Annemarie的妈妈及舅舅Henrik在进行着援救犹太人行动时并没有对Annemarie说出实情，而小女孩很明白她的妈妈在对她说谎，于是她问她的舅舅Henrik，为什么她的母亲要对她说谎（她的母亲从来不会对她说谎）？Annemarie的舅舅回答说“当你不知道事实时你会比较勇敢。”（无知者无畏的另一种解释）
因为当你不知道事实时，你不会考虑危险，你只知道你要去做你必需和应该做的事。

网上的介绍说，这个故事虽然是虚构，但是点子却来自于作者多年好友，她童年便是在纳綷佔领下的丹麦渡过的，她从朋友口中听过许多童年发生的真实事件，再自己查阅史料，从而产生了这个故事，因此虚构的故事中有真实人物的影子，也反映历史。小朋友或青少年读起故事，更容易体会和瞭解当时的世界到底发生了什麽事。

书中提到当时的一些背景是很好看的，

丹麦于1940-1945遭纳粹占领，国王Christian X未做任何抵抗便投降，他知道三面环海，小国小民，没有强大军队的丹麦，是敌不过有强大军队的纳粹德国。但是在投降之前，为了不让德国获得丹麦的海军舰队，丹麦人彻夜焚烧他们的船舰，许多丹麦儿童在当时都目睹暗夜的冲天烈焰，还以为是庆典烟火。

含泪投降的国王并没有因为放弃抵抗而遭致人民的鄙夷，反而因为他的消极不合作主义，争取丹麦人民在纳粹统治下，将痛苦减至最低程度，而得到人民的敬重与爱戴。国王每天早上没有护卫，自己一人骑马经公园到皇宫，途中亲切地和每一位路过民众点头打招呼，德国士兵不解的问一名丹麦青年，为什麽你们的国王这么寒酸，连护卫都没有？青年回答：全丹麦人民都是国王的护卫。

1943年，一位德国官员透露消息给在政府机构工作的一位丹麦人，纳粹即将在十月犹太新年后开始进行丹麦犹太人的”重新安置”计划，拉比(犹太牧师的称呼)得到消息，利用教会礼拜时透露给犹太信徒，因此在计划开始前，丹麦大部份的犹太人都已逃到自由瑞典，只有少数不信邪留下来的犹太人，遭到纳粹毒手，相较于欧洲其他国家，丹麦的犹太人大多能倖免于难。丹麦犹太人到现在都很感恩这位德国官员，常会在他的坟上献花。

丹麦渔夫会在船上建造密室，偷载犹太人出海逃往瑞典。纳粹怀疑为什麽计划开始后，找到的犹太人那么少，于是开始查犹太人是怎么逃出境的。纳粹开始训练德国狼犬搜捕渔船，看是否渔船上有藏人。于是瑞典科学家发明了一种粉末，用干掉的兔子血，混合古柯硷，涂抹在手帕上，由丹麦地下反抗军发给每个丹麦渔夫，当纳粹带着狼犬上船检查时，渔夫便把手帕拿出来挥或擦汗，狗会被手帕上血的味道吸引，进而嗅手帕，而后古柯硷会使狗鼻子暂时失灵，而闻不到人的味道。如此，渔夫便能假借打渔之名顺利将犹太人偷渡到一海之隔的瑞典。

在纳粹德国瓦解，丹麦重获自由的那一天，家家户户挂上丹麦国旗，更有丹麦家庭主动打扫犹太人逃难后留下的空屋，以等待他们的犹太邻居重返家园。

来一本稍微重量级一点出格一点书介绍下。

【Looking for Alaska】是美国作家John Green的第一本青少年小说，出版于2005年，2006年获得了美国图书协会颁发的Michael L. Printz Award。
小说分成了两个部分，BEFORE和AFTER。
Alaska是书中一个女孩的名字，Before/After是以她出车祸身亡为界限来分的。

16岁的男孩Miles Halter要离开Florida的学校去Alabama的Culver Creek Preparatory School寄宿学校上学，在离开前夕父母给他办了一个告别晚会，结果他父母很失望因为只来了两个朋友参加，而Miles自己倒是无所谓，因为他在现在的学校里没有真正的朋友，没有什么激动人心的青春期躁动。。。他的特长和爱好就是能说出许多伟人的临终遗言，特别是文艺复兴时代的巨匠François Rabelais临终时的名言"I go to seek a Great Perhaps" 他尤其喜爱，并用来解释自己为什么要离开现在的学校去Alabama州的寄宿学校的原因，所以他对去离开家去新地方丝毫没有害怕紧张过。

Miles到了新学校后认识了他的室友Chip "The Colonel" Martin，结果Chip给Miles起了绰号叫做Pudge（意思是矮胖的人），但是很讽刺地是Miles其实是个很瘦的孩子。在这所贫富分化的寄宿学校里，Miles和Chip成了同党，Clip痛恨学校里的富家子弟，管他们叫Weekday Warriors（因为他们周末可以回家）。在学生们的恶作剧中，Miles认识了Clip这派的核心人物，年轻女孩Alaska Young，Alaska气质迷人、极富精力、性感时髦、言辞锋利、热爱阅读、迷恋冒险，有着青春的敏感、坚强和脆弱及哀伤，和其他第一眼看见她的男孩们一样，Miles立刻为她倾倒。Miles和他们在一起成为朋友后终于发现了Great Perhaps真正的一面是什么：做一些危险刺激的事情，鲁莽地违规违法比如在校园里抽烟喝酒什么的。

Miles很喜欢Alaska，但是她那个时候正在和学校里的另外一位男生约会，Miles很泄气认为自己没有希望了。然而，Alaska对于Miles也有着难以捉摸的感情因为Alaska认为Miles也很有吸引力，她甚至给Miles牵线搭桥介绍数学班上的的罗马尼亚裔女孩Lara Buterskaya成为其女朋友。

后来，Miles, Lara, Alaska, the Colonel和他们的朋友Takumi一起针对校园里的富家子弟们（Weekday Warriors）搞了一个“恶作剧热身” （pre-prank），Alaska告诉了大家她八岁的时候她的母亲死于脑动脉瘤，当时惊慌失措的Alaska就看着她母亲死去，而忘记打911求救。虽然后来Alaska的父亲原谅了她，但是她一直对其母亲的死内疚不已。

有一次，他们三人一起玩真心话大冒险游戏（Truth or Dare），结果Alaska和the Colonel喝得酩酊大醉。那一晚，Alaska和Miles走的很近并有了初吻。后来Alaska在睡梦中被一个电话叫醒，听完电话后她伤心欲绝。。。她说服Miles和the Colonel引开教导主任的注意力而让她离开校园寄宿寝室。。。

结果第二天在学校的全体集合告诉了学生们前一天晚上离开的Alaska在一场车祸中身亡。伤心欲绝的Miles和the Colonel试图解开她死亡的真相 - 这是她自杀呢？还是只是一场普通的车祸？为什么那天晚上她要离开学校呢？他们背负着那天晚上帮助Alaska离开的那种负罪感。。。他们意识到Alaska离开的那天晚上是她妈妈去世的周年，她可能忘记去她妈妈的墓地上坟了。他们一直没有搞清楚是否Alaska是自杀的。他们后来用Alaska死前想要一起玩的一个恶作剧来怀念了她。

这本书在美国其实是高度争议的，一个主要原因是里面的teen大部分都不是处男处女，有比较直白的性描写，比如里面有heavy kiss，oral sex，references to masturbation，erections，watching pornography等等（我就不翻译了

）看上去很吓人吧。。。美国的一些老师和家长说这是一部“色情”和“令人恶心”的书。当然更不要说里面的那些男女青少年们抽烟喝酒爆粗口了。。。

但是作者John Green公开地为自己作品辩护，他说：有人说我的书很dirty，其实书里是非常传统的价值观和宗教观。有些人认为所谓的道德伦理就是性道德伦理的话，那么他们其实没有看到书中要表达的主要方面。这本书原本就不是针对12岁年龄孩子的，也从来没有放在书店的儿童类书架上出售。。。

COMMONSENSE MEDIA把这部书定位为Award-winning novel of life and death, for older teens，适合阅读年龄是16+，但是很有趣的是，看过的读者们（家长和孩子）都说好，他们的投票都认为13+就可以阅读此书，他们都认为这本书在传递postive message，评论说书里的青少年角色虽然行为经常有偏差，但是他们都是vividly real, complex和beautifully drawn，他们的故事能够帮助读者思考一些big topics，比如self-discovery和loss。

男孩看军事历史地理，女孩不爱看这些很正常呀。
我女儿就看小说不喜欢历史地理啥的，打仗的她更没兴趣了。
那些知识类的要包装成小说类的她才可能看。
唯一的例外是bill Bryson 的书她都喜欢。

再说了，女孩家知道那么多军事历史地理干嘛，哈哈哈。

写写 Great Expectation - 远大前程

In every book there is a main character, the way the book is written, is so that everyone looks up to or admires the main protagonist. Great Expectations, I believe is one of those books. Pip may have been unkind or harsh to Joe Gargery, but he is yet still a good man with good in his heart. Joe Gargery, another character of which the audience admires. Kind and forgiving towards Pip ever since he was small, yet Pip never really did anything to deserve it. Yet again, Biddy is loving and humble in the book, she is loved by the viewers and most of the critics.

To me, a good character is friendly and good - natured towards anyone they meet. One is innocent until proven guilty. Herbert Pocket was the character of whom I admired, as he showed just that when Abel Magwitch (Provis) turned up unexpectedly at his house with a dagger in his hand. He was scared, but he kept it to himself and showed kindness and seemed to be happy even. Herbert has always been a happy person, other than when he was young. But a good character learns from their mistakes and misunderstandings and fixes them properly. They are not too kind, nor too cruel upon people. It's kinda like Karma (善有善报恶有恶报). Good characters go by this rule. Always, (to me anyway). That's why, Herbert Pocket is undoubtely the best character in the book.

Pip, Estella and Joe Gargery are neither pleasing nor too attractive to me. Pip, cruel and undeserving of Joe's kindness. A spoilt child who thinks himself higher than everyone else. Estella, mean and doesn't know how to stand up and speak for herself when it comes to Miss Havisham. She seems to enjoy pain from others, but doesn't feel it herself. Joe Gargery I admitt is the best friend you could ever have, but yet still, he seems too kind, and doesn't know when to stop. Pip did nothing to deserve his kindness, and he shouldn't of given it to him. Joe wasted his whole life to someone who doesn't even care about him anymore.

Great Expectations is a twisted and dramatic book, and everything and everyone is carefully thought out and linked in one way or another.

自从The Hunger Games这样的小说流行以后，突然发现其实这样的题材-反面乌托邦王国里的一个故事-在西方世界的青少年小说中很流行的，介绍最近女儿在看的一本，美国作家Scott Westerfeld 2005年出版的【Uglies】。

书中描写一个少女Tally Youngblood（这个名字很有意思）生活在一个分隔了成年人以及未成年人的世界。 16岁前的未成年人都住在Uglyville, 到了16岁就会接受手术整形, 变得漂亮（Pretties）, 并迁往New Pretty Town, 整天吃喝玩乐度日。

Tally一直渴望16岁快点来, 她16岁生日的一个月前, 遇上了同月同日生, 豪迈奔放的Shay。她跟着Shay用飞行滑板到处玩, Tally度过充实愉快的一个月。然而Shay有一天表示自己不喜欢整形手术, 她说人们认为自己丑的想法是被误导了, 后来Shay逃走去找寻一个能够隐藏自己的城市Smoke。她给Tally留下了一些线索谜语，以便让Tally能回心转意也来Smoke。

而Tally与Shay的交往使她被Special Circumstance盯上了。Special Circumstance是类似于国土安全局的机构，他们迫使Tally破解Shay留下的线索找Smoke这个城市的所在地。结果Tally带着跟踪器到了Smoke。。。

Smoke是一个理想的世界，人人和平共处， “pretty”在那里根本不重要，大家“丑恶”不分彼此因为大家长相都普通。Tally喜欢上了那里平静的生活，爱上了David，更从David父母口中知道，他们本是Special Circumstance 的外科医生,发现了整形手术的祕密 - 所有人的大脑都被注入了一种让人迟钝、呆滞、健忘的细胞。。。让他们忘记原来在Uglyville时的自我和灵魂。这也是变漂亮的手术后他们终日满足于吃喝玩乐而不谈及16岁久前的生活的真正原因，那完完全全是Special Circumstance统治的世界。。。

简单说一下WIKI里后面的情节，
后来Tally的失误召来了Special Circumstance，城市Smoke被毁灭，所有人被捉去， Shay被强制动了手术洗脑。。。落单的Tally与David逃了出来,计划着拯救他们的朋友。。。后来Tally为了要帮助找出解药，挽救Shay 被洗掉的记忆和其思想，并且她想弥补自己出卖众人的过失, 她决定成为一个pretty。。。

小说的最后一段，Tally对一个pretty说，“I’m Tally Youngblood. Make me pretty。”就结束了。

其实这也就是下一本书【Pretties】的开始。

嗯，这是一系列四本的少年读物, 分别为Uglies, Pretties, Specials, Extras，现在女儿在看第一部，等她看完我来问问她是否有兴趣看下去。

推荐给中学7年级以上的小朋友看，Commonsense Media上的分级是12+

女儿13岁，正在读Robert Jordan 的 The Wheel of Time 系列。目前放假在家，读的已经废寝忘食了。
据她说这套好在情节上，她给打分9.8/10,唯一的缺点是字数太多了。

中学生看【格林童话】

其实格林兄弟并没有写这些童话，兄弟俩只是收集了这些民间故事成书而已。
格林童话很牛很牛，因为它是世界文化遗产，里面有200多个故事，相信我们每个人多多少少都看过几个知道几个，说没格林童话里一个故事也不知道的人估计非常罕见，百度上说在西方国家中格林童话的销量仅次于【圣经】。

格林童话小学生可以看，中学生可以看，大学生可以看，成年人也可以看，什么年龄段的人来看，读出来的东西都不一样的。
新足迹论坛的斑竹大版就写过好几个格林童话的读后感。。。非常好看的（很批判的，呵呵）。

前几年这个童话网上好像很出名，很多人相信我们小时候读到的格林童话原版不是那个样子的，其原因有两个日本女人（笔名：桐生操，名字真很欠揍）把格林童话写成了血腥暴力加黄色的小说-【令人颤栗的格林童话】(本当は恐ろしいグリム童话） - 如果大家有兴趣可以去google看看，绝对是情色小说。

【令人颤栗的格林童话】这本书曾经掀起一股“恐怖童话”热潮，许多人都以为原来格林童这么可怕啊，甚至把这本书的内容当成了格林童话的真正故事。然而实际翻过这本书的人就知道里面的内容完全是二次创作，连作者桐生操都说是虚构了。但书商为了制造话题，强调“跟你所知的格林童话不一样！很惊悚喔！”，结果是许多人被“还原”之类的暧昧字眼误导，以为它就是真的原版故事。虽然这个话题已经退烧很久了，但我发现还是有不少人存在着误解。

我没有要批判【令人颤慄的格林童话】这套书，毕竟它只是被误传；我也不是专业的文学研究者，单纯是童话幻想故事的爱好者。格林兄弟干嘛要写一部「儿童不宜的童话」？如果真想写那些骇人又情色的东西，直接去写恐怖小说不就得了。

那么原本的格林童话很和谐欢乐吗？倒也的确跟一般人的印象有些差别，究竟哪些是误解，原本的故事又是什么样？有一些盲点先得厘清。

首先，我们所说的《格林童话》是来自格林兄弟在1812年出版的《儿童与家庭故事集》(Kinder- und Hausmärchen)，内容是格林兄弟所收集之民间传说整理编写而成，并非是他们针对儿童所写的故事。里头的两百多篇故事来源典故已不可考，格林兄弟最初是希望让这些传说故事能以文字形式保存流传下去，本意并不是「写童话」。在更早的中古时期，文学中应该是还没有所谓「童话」类型，故事并不是要用来娱乐(或惊吓)儿童，而大多是有着道德教化的作用。「格林童话」(Grimm's Fairy Tales)这个名词也是后人发明的，我们以中文的「童话」一词来衡量这些故事其实是不太恰当的。

初版的《儿童与家庭故事集》的确有一些残酷的内容而引发争议，其后的半个世纪间经过了多次改写，才渐渐形成今日人们熟悉的版本，其中最没有被明显修改的着名故事大概是《汉森与葛雷特》(糖果屋)吧。必须要强调初版的故事与那本同人志《令人颤慄的格林童话》无关，内容并没有多毛骨悚然或情色。

格林童话有部份故事在更早以前就出现在法国作家佩罗于17世纪所写的故事集裡(在此之前大都是口头流传)，《儿童与家庭故事集》序文中格林兄弟也称讚佩罗在文学上的贡献。佩罗所写的与后来格林兄弟所收录的内容又有些不同，其中《小红帽》的故事更分成3种版本，在较早的佩罗版本裡，奶奶与小红帽最后都被杀死吃掉了，格林版才多了一位猎人来救她们。其实就连佩罗的故事也是他收集来的传说再加以润饰改写，他们蒐集的故事早在世界各地以不同的面貌流传过，格林童话也将某些有不同版本的故事都收录在一起，一个故事又常常变成另一个故事的原型，所以其实不存在所谓「原本真正的故事」。

格林童话中人气最高的非《白雪公主》莫属，还是史上第一部彩色动画电影的题材。初版故事与我们印象中的最大差异就是，其实王子根本没有亲吻白雪公主，最后是公主自己把毒苹果吐出来复活了。邪恶母后其实共试了三种方法来杀她，最后被迫穿上烧烫的铁鞋跳舞至死。比较可怕的部份在于初版中要杀害白雪的就是她的亲生母亲，因为这样的剧情太残酷所以之后都改成继母了。(白雪公主可以持续逃跑一整天而且三种方法都杀不死她，体能超乎常人！)

分享另外几个初版故事的重要差异：

◎其实《青蛙王子》中，公主并没有亲吻青蛙。
◎大家小时候看的迪士尼版【灰姑娘】其实是佩罗童话的故事，南瓜马车与玻璃鞋都是佩罗版本才有。格林童话版灰姑娘掉的是金鞋，还有两个坏姊姊为了硬穿上金鞋而刀割脚尖肉的剧情。
◎佩罗版的《睡美人》裡王子没有吻公主。虽然格林版(荆棘公主)&迪士尼版才有亲吻公主的名场面，不过我觉得佩罗版的剧情比较丰富。
◎格林童话的小红帽有第二种版本：红帽比野狼先早一步到奶奶家，两人设陷阱杀死了野狼。
◎初版《长髮公主》(莴苣)裡有暗示公主已经怀孕的台词，之后被改掉了。

再来是个人挑选出的最残酷格林童话TOP3：

1. 《孩童的杀人游戏》
其中一则是说有一群小孩在玩扮家家酒，各自扮演着屠夫、厨师等大人的角色，而扮演屠夫的小孩后来竟拿出刀来割断扮演“猪”的小孩的喉咙，而另一个小孩则拿着盘子来承接滴下来的鲜血。另一则故事是说，小孩子看见爸爸杀猪的过程，于是在玩游戏时，把弟弟当成一头猪，一刀便刺穿了弟弟的咽喉，母亲赶来看到这一幕非常生气，便把刀拔出来，一刀刺向哥哥的心脏，之后自己再上吊自杀；爸爸回家目睹这样的惨剧，内心相当悲伤，没多久也死了。

2. 《杜松树》
继母把孩子杀死，拿来煮汤，不知情的父亲竟还边喝边说“好喝”，实在是残酷至极。

3. 《蓝胡子》
一个连续杀妻的男人，把尸体都藏在城堡的秘密房间里...

所以格林童话恐怖吗？我的答案是否定的。初版的确有一些残酷的部份，但除了上面例举的三则故事比较可怕以外就几乎没什么了，故事裡的残暴描写也是为了加强警世效果，并不是在製造恐怖，纯粹是格林兄弟不希望过于美化而破坏它们原有的真实面貌，企图揣测格林兄弟是否放了什麽性异常暗示也是无意义。至于情色更可以说是完全没有，如果是为了猎奇而看，保证你会失望。

初版格林童话就是未经修饰的乡野传说故事，与我们认知的「童话」不太一样，如此而已。「保存纪录过去的动人传说」就是它在文学上的意义，这些故事就是没有加工过的原石，朴素又不完美，但比起过于凋琢的宝石，它还是有其存在价值与独特生命力。

爸爸让我来写一个格林童话的review，我来了。

Grimm's Fairytales
Ashputtel (Cinderella)
The original of Disney's Cinderella. Disney helps hide the cruel truth from children and even adults. The Grimm brothers don't bother. Instead of cinderella, her name is Ashputtel, because her family makes her live on ashes near the fireplace. She befriends birds and they help her in the chores her sisters give her. In return though, the story never stated she gave them anything. So my question is, why be so nice?

In Disney's Cinderella, her sisters feet can't fit into the glass slipper. In Grimm Fairytales, Ashputtel's sisters decide to cut their big toe off and squeeze into the golden slipper until blood soaked through their white stockings. Horribly violent and no where NEAR Disney's version. They seemed to believe that stories needed violence and cruelty to make it seem realistic. But in fact, it's not at all.

What I don't like about these stories is that the main character is always helped by people or animals that they've shown no kindness nor generosity to. Even at the end, the character neither rewards them nor plays or laugh with them. It also seems like the young man or prince must always marry some princess or fair maiden that they've barely heard of. What happened to real love? In these stories, love is 'so the prince married the princess and ruled the kingdom for ever until his death.'

But overall, Grimms Fairytales are quite interesting and normally will have a moral at the end of it. Some stories do have violence, so young children might not ant to read this, but if you over 11 or 12, and you don't mind reading Fairytales, this is a good book for you. Ashputtel is only one of the many stories that lie within this huge book.

故事说的是：有个男人和他的一家从芝加哥搬到了农村，逃避繁忙都市生活。那个男的，是个医生。搬到农村的第一天，事故就发生了。一个大学生被车撞了。那天晚上，那个大学生的鬼魂就出现在医生的梦里。大学生站在宠物坟场里，警告医生不要跨过“死亡陷阱”。第二天早上起来，医生发现自己脚上都是泥土和松针。他的邻居告诉他，真的有这个坟场，还说，如果你把死的动物放进去的话，会活过来。

后来，医生的猫给车撞死了，医生就把猫给埋了。结果，猫就活过来了，走回家了。

医生就问邻居，有没有死人在那里埋过，邻居说没有。

接着，医生的2岁儿子给车撞了（因为他家就住在高速公路旁）。他觉得非常伤心。他们两夫妻还互相埋怨对方。女儿也变得很伤心。所以，医生打算把儿子埋在坟场里。

他的邻居猜测他要干嘛，然后告诉医生，其实有死人埋在那里。但是那个死人回来的时候，就像被恶魔附体一样。最后那个死人的父亲把自家房子烧了，和儿子同归于尽。

邻居说，宠物坟场是罪恶之地。

医生实在太伤心，他就把儿子的尸体从人的墓地挖出来，又埋到了宠物坟场。他的女儿又做了同样的噩梦，她让妈妈回家。（那时候妈妈正去芝加哥的路上）

当天晚上，儿子回家了。他的动作像大人，可说话还是小孩的声音。他偷了爸爸的手术刀，把邻居杀了。他变成了吃人恶魔。

这时候，妈妈从芝加哥回来了。他把妈妈也杀了吃了。

医生回来的时候，把儿子和猫用吗啡针打死了。

这时候，医生的头发已经彻底白了，他也疯了。

他把他的老婆也埋进了宠物坟场。

故事的结尾，就是他老婆回来了。。。。。。。。。

这本书令人毛骨悚然。是SK比较经典的恐怖小说。中学生读了应该不会做噩梦。

他写的其他的小说《肖申克的救赎》《The Shining》《Salem’s Lot》《Children of the Corn》等等，都很好看

他是一个很有创意的作家。他写的恐怖小说，很会营造恐怖气氛，他好像知道世界上所有的令人恐惧的地方。

What she couldn't do was all of the things she was meant and expected to be able to do. Having been brought up in the small island of Barbados, where slaves helped her with chores, and there wasn't a care in her life, Kit of course wasn't experienced when she came to her Auntie's house in New England without a letter or warning of whence she came. She expected glorious dresses, turquoise - blue waters, and a fabulous house, but what she got was muddy footpaths, small cottages and gray, dull waters. She was pushed
away and disliked by some of the people, thinking she was a witch to do all of the things that woman aren't supposed to be able to do. Until she meets Hannah Tupper, a Quaker. Everyone in the town isolates her, because of the belief of her witchery, when in fact, she's just like any lonely old lady searching for company. Kit finds that Hannah's cosy cottage can be the only place to let out her true self, and be with the people of whom she loved. Hannah, Nat and Prudence. But one day the townspeople turn on Hannah and Kit, accusing her of the sickness that spread through the townspeople. Hannah faces a choice to run away and lie, or to tell the truth and be hanged.

I recommend this book for ages 12+, not because of horror or inappropriate things, because of the language. The language is quite sophisticated and might not be appealing to younger ages. Adults could definetly read this book if they wanted to though.

71楼的书里推荐一本【the blind side】，内容是关于美国的一名黑人橄榄球运动员Michael Jerome Oher的早年生活经历的故事，真人真事。

Oher的父母有12个孩子，他是其中之一。他家庭环境很糟糕，母亲在怀他期间吸毒，父亲是黑帮的，街头混，。这导致了他在成长过程中一直缺少照顾。他一、二年级都读了两遍，甚至在他上学的最初9年一共转了11次学。16岁之前，他在不同的家庭待过，几次无家可归。Oher上高中时，他的父亲被人谋杀。。。

在孟菲斯上了第一年公立高中后，通过曾和他住在一起的Tony Henderson的介绍，他向私立Briarcrest Christian School递交了入学申请。Henderson当时正准备送他的儿子来这里，也就顺便带上了Oher。学校的橄榄球教练欣赏Oher的运动天赋，让他向校长递交入学申请，而校长的要求则是让他先完成一个家庭学习项目。尽管Oher没有完成这一项目，不过校长后来意识到他的要求对于像Oher这样的学生有些过分了，最终也就收下了他。

再说一个搞笑的，当初电影放到时候，很多人除了说电影好看之外，都提到了里面演Touhy夫妇大女儿的Collins Touhy的小妞太漂亮了，她就是Lily Collins，The Blind Side是她崭露头角的电影，最近她演了搞笑印度风的白雪公主（Lily是Phil Collins的女儿），呵呵。

现实世界里的Collins Touhy和Oher是同班同学，是她第一个告诉她爸爸Sean她班级里有个安静的黑人大块头，这样Touhy夫妇才注意到了Oher，而真实世界里的Collins对Oher真的很好，Collins自己是高中的All Rounder，但是为了帮助Oher的学业，她放弃了进英文和数学的快班，就是想留在普通班帮助Oher完成作业。

【Soul Surfer: A True Story of Faith, Family, and Fighting to Get Back on the Board】
是一位美国青少年Bethany Hamilton的传记。

Bethany Hamilton出生在夏威夷，从小喜好冲滑浪和风帆运动，而且表现出非凡的潜质，8岁已参加公开比赛。

Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde

This terror novella is written in the view of a man named Mr Utterson. He has 2 other friends, Dr Jekyll and Dr Lanyon. On Mr Utterson’s weekly walk with Mr Enfield, Mr Enfield tells him a happening where a Mr Hyde bumps into a girl and stomps fiercely on her. This malice behaviour made Mr Enfield stop Mr Hyde and question his actions. Mr Utterson is peculiar about this case because Dr Jekyll’s Will involves giving a lot of money to the man. The case reveals some simply horrific things about Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde.
This novella was a true disappointment. It was slow, predictable, inactive and boring to read. Although it is only about 80 pages long, it took longer for me to read this than a 300 paged book of thrilling adventure and action. During reading this book, I thought that maybe there would be a great ending but unfortunately, the build-up of suspense came to nothing. I could already predict the ending and unfortunately, it panned out exactly how I thought it would. In fact, the best part of reading this book was finishing it.
I wouldn’t recommend this book to anyone. This horror novella was one of the worst books I’ve ever read.

这几天我看了一本书叫做【THE HOBBIT】，是Lord of Ring魔戒的前传，我觉得虽然不是最好看的一本书，但还是很值得一读的。

故事说的是一个Hobbit和13个小矮人上山寻找龙的财宝，在路上有个魔法师一直在帮助他们，The Hobbit一开始是不想去的，但还是被魔法师说服了。
在路上，他们遇到很多邪恶的小精灵，并被他们抓了起来，最后13个小矮人杀掉了很多小精灵并逃了出来，但他们忘记带The Hobbit一起逃了，然后，The Hobbit在隧道里面遇到了半邪半正的Gollum，The Hobbit发现了一只魔戒，一旦他戴上这枚戒指他就隐身了，他就逃了出来。

最后，The hobbit和13个小矮人上山打败了龙，把金银财宝分成了14份，而The Hobbit自己一直保留着这枚魔戒。。。这就是Lord of the Ring这个故事的开始。。。

我记得电影魔戒一开始的时候，The Hobbit因为一直保留着这枚魔戒而受到了它的影响，变的有点像Gollum一样有时候会无法控制自己。。。

我给这本书打十分里的八分。

大名鼎鼎的【魔戒】（The Lord of the Rings）在Peter Jackson的三部曲电影之后相信无人不知，西方世界里书比电影还要有名，必读书目。

不过我和女儿都认为电影三部曲里很多桥段非常沉闷冗长，女儿现在正在看【The Lord of the Rings】的原著，对我说原著很多章节也同样气氛沉闷黑暗，让人昏昏欲睡，她称【The Lord of the Rings】帮助睡眠的好材料，哈哈。

不过魔戒的前传【The Hobbit, There and back again】更适合儿童阅读（后来的魔戒其实是写给成人看的），这是因为前传先写，原本是作者John Ronald Reuel Tolkien为儿子所写的一部童话，后来延伸出《魔戒》和其后的故事，作者因此一举成名。

Hobbit的意思就是穴居小矮人的意思，主角可不是Frodo Baggins（魔戒里的少年主角），而是收养他的叔叔Bilbo Baggins。

【魔戒】的附录里说，Bilbo Baggins生于第三纪元2890年9月22日，他是Bungo Baggins及Beladonna Took之子。Baggins家族是贵族地主的附属，颇为富有和受人尊重。

第三纪元2941年，Bilbo Baggins加入Gandalf、Thorin Oakenshield及其他十二位矮人，远征被Smaug占领的孤山Lonely Mountain。这导致Bilbo Baggins等人冒险至Rivendel，穿越幽暗密林（Mirkwood），终抵达Lonely Mountain。Thorin Oakenshield重夺孤山后，五军之战（Battle of Five Armies）爆发。

由于前度魔戒持有者依然存活，魔戒并没有腐化Bilbo，魔戒的一些负面影响也没有发生在他身上。多年以后，他开始魔戒着迷，失眠并“觉得自己好像有些干枯，快被榨干的感觉”。在他111岁的生日宴会上，即【The Fellowship of the Ring】的开首，当Gandalf劝他放弃魔戒时，Bilbo不愿意。Bilbo还称至尊魔戒为他的“宝贝”，咕噜亦曾这样称呼至尊魔戒。Gandalf终对这老朋友失去耐性，对他当头棒喝。Bilbo最终同意放弃了魔戒。

而其后面的正本【魔戒】这部巨著我觉得正的是中学生才会有兴趣看的，女儿说是a very slow, hard read，对于小学阶段就能够读完魔戒这样大部头的巨著的小朋友，我不得不叫他们天才或者牛蛙。呵呵。

None of the Craftmasters really want him. If he doesn't get chosen, it means a lifetime being a farmer. But suddenly Halt turns up. He is a ranger and can turn invisible. People say that Rangers are black sorcerers and can go inside trees to hide.

When Will gets apprenticed to Halt, he finds that they don't practice magic, only that they camouflage to the surroundings. But even Will is disappointed when he finds the weapons Rangers use. Two knives and a bow. He always thought that bows were what normal people use for hunting. But when he tries toprevent the assassination of the King, he finds that a Ranger's weapons are not so useless after all...

我是个例子，小时候喜欢历史地理天文传记等等一切非小说类的东西，文学类的东西看的很少，全是知识，长大了才发现没啥用，呵呵。
所以，别担心了，中学生你想让他干啥不是你说了算的。

我儿子最近喜欢Robert Muchamore 写的书,上周刚买了新出版的GUARDIAN ANGEL. 之前也买过REOPLE'S REPUBLIC. 我儿子也从学校借同一作者同一系列的书. 没问他具体内容.

Lord of The Rings

Longest book I've ever read, oldest book I've ever read, but not the dullest. That prize goes to the Twilight series. My advice to you would be to never read the middle section. Then again, nobody listens to my advice, because if you don't read the middle section, the whole thing doesn't make sense. The book is actaully seperated into 3 main mini - books. Those 3 sections, are then divided up again into 2 mini - mini - sections (That alone could be made into a small book). So, basically you get 6 sections of the book, and since I am just so lucky, I got all 6 in the same book. I actaully measured the spine, and it's 5 centimetres long. The words don't have a lot of spacing, and are probably size 10 or 9 font. Worst of all...THERE IS NO ILLUSTRATIONS!...

Just like any book you'll read, the ending, the beginning will always be interesting, but the middle part is definetly the climax of the book. That's how we're taught, aren't we? When everyone learnt how to write narratives or stories of their own, they were told that the story is a line. First it starts as a straight line, yet rising slowly at a constant pace. Next, it'll reach a part, where the line just gets higher and higher up to the top (The climax) As the story ends, the line slowly diminishes and desecends off down to a happy ending or a sad tragedy. To me, this book was quite different from that line. To me, the middle part was just endless, it was almost like reading New Moon in Year 4. I eventually got lost in the language and I wasn't sure of what was happening. I only picked up a few bits of important information along the way, but it was dull and it seemed like the characters weren't doing much. I felt like the writer wanted to stall the climax of the book or something. The good part of the book comes in the beginning, partly because I just like the feel of starting a book, and the excitement you get when reading the frist few chapters. Yet, it's also partly because everything is happening all at once, making the story move at a fast pace. It's a blur, but a blur you'll just understand. When it comes to the ending, firstly, you'll get a feeling of immense satisfication, and secondly, it's war. Don't take that the wrong way, as in I like people dying, and swords or things like that, but as in it's so much more breathtaking, and interesting to read. The book becomes so much more enticing,
because, again, it moves at a fast pace to keep the reader going.

Some bad things or confusing things, that I thought the writer could've changed or didn't have were Sauron (The Lord of the Rings, like literally, not the title of the book) actaully appearing or having a battle. All that the readers got, well, was a fiery, red eye. That was a bit disappointing for me, as I would've liked a bit more action for the Fellowship of the Ring. Another thing I didn't like, was the fact that Frodo seemed helpless and kind of useless in a way. It was always his friends (The Fellowship of the Ring) or his companions that had to rescue him or fight for him, time and time again. It didn't seem like he played a big part as one of the main characters in the book. So I thought, he could've been more the classic heroic type.

The person I admire most in this story, would be Samwise Gamgee. He was frightened, he was short, he was not the exactly the smartest hobbit, but we was loyal and encouraging. He never left his master's side (Frodo) and always remained true to him wherever they went. I don't think that Sam get enough recognition in this book, but I would've liked that as well.

Making this book review, and well knowing this much about The Lord of the Rings, makes me sound just a bit nerdy, so don't judge me. :)

The Hobbit

This book is entirely different from The Lord of the Rings, which is hard to believe as it is meant as a pre - sequel to it. So what makes it so much more different? There's still elves, and mysterious creatures roaming about the forest in Middle Earth, it's just Bilbo Baggins is the main character that's all (Bilbo Baggins is Frodo Baggins's uncle). This book, is a children's book. It's funny, childish, an most importantly imaginative. Sure, The Lord of the Rings is also imaginative, but this book can relate to what children come up with in their heads. To me, every child will be immature, and will have so much more imagination that adults. That's what makes them so pure. It's those people who chose to keep that imagination when they grow up, or to stay close to that imagination is what makes them a good childrens' author.

A kid in Year 4 or 5, could easily finish this book in a week or two. Maybe for those who love reading, could finish it within a week. It's so much more relaxing and laughable, unlike the Lord of the Rings, where it's serious business. That's what makes the Hobbit a great book.

My mum made me do this review.

'Guardian Angel' is the second book in the second Cherub series by Robert Muchamore and follows on from the first book, 'People's Republic'. This series is action and adventure and is most suited to teenages.

The main character of Guardian Angel is Ryan Sharma, the same as People's Republic. Ryan is part of an organisation called Cherub which is a spy organisation, except the spies are children. Ryan continues on his first proper mission which he starts in the first book. His task was to befriend Ethan, the son of a woman who is part of a dangerous gang. Ryan's plan to become friends with him go wrong and Ethan is moved to another country after his house is attacked and his mother is killed.

In Guardian Angel, the book continues right where the first left off. Ryan stays in contact with Ethan through electronic means and all this is monitored. Ethan is being transfered to a boarding school, but he is kidnapped and taken somewhere else by his uncle, who Ethan suspects was behind the killing of his mother. Ethan finds out his unlce's plans of taking control of the gang by taking all of its funds. Later, Ethan escapes and tries to get the money back, he gets back some of it but not before the CIA gets most of it, practically shutting down the gang. The mission is still not over as now they have to stop the gang splitting into multiple gangs, which is even worse than one gang. This is continued in the next book, Black Friday.

I like this book and the series because there is action, adventure and it is exciting.

Imagine a village that's kept in harmony, with no such thing as theivery, lies, murder or any type of bad behaviour. Where there is no mistakes. Where everyone is given a special name to do with their true - self or talent that they possess. For example, if you discover you're true talent is helping people with your medicine, then your name might be the 'Herbalist'. Would you want to live there? I know I wouldn't, because making mistakes is part of who we are as a person, we learn from them, if there were no mistakes, who would you be?

This village is exactly what I described above, but sooner or later, people will naturally succumb to making mistakes, and this village will become dust in the wind. I find this book very much like The Giver, of which Lois Lowry also wrote (The Giver won the Newbury Medal Book Award), due to the fact that the villagers are given special names to suit what they are like or what they do. The book mainly focuses on a young boy named Matty. He yearns for his true name, and he hopes it to be 'Messenger'. This is because he can travel through the Forest without harm. The Forest is described as a deadly and unwelcome place to people, and if angered, the Forest will give you small warnings such as a prick on the arm, this means that the next time you enter, you won't come back out. Matty is different. The Forest almost seems to embrace or welcome him in a way nobody understands. He travels back and forth through the Forest on errands to different towns and villages.

(THIS PART OF THE REVIEW MIGHT SPOIL THE BOOK FOR THOSE WHO WANT TO READ IT, SO .... IF YOU WANT TO READ IT ... DON"T READ ON..)

It's a fast - paced book, and someone could easily finish it in a day or two, because it's not long anyway. The thing that I don't like about this book is that fact that the main protagonist dies in the last 2 or 3 pages, and the ending is just rushed and confusing. Once you get to the last chapter, it almost seems as if the writer was late for something, and just wrote it in a hurry. I don't mind Shakespeare killing off his characters at the end, because ... well, he's Shakespeare and he writes tragedies and all, but in this book, it's just confusing and a bit weird for the reader. But overall, I still enjoyed this book, and I hope many of you get a chance to read it.
