Dear
As you may be aware, last year the Reserve Bank of Australia introduced regulations impacting American Express Cards issued by banks. In response, we have reviewed our Awards credit cards and from 1 November 2018, we’ll be closing all our CommBank issued American Express Cards.
What this means for you
From 1 November, you’ll no longer be able to use your Diamond Awards American Express Card1 ending in 2269. To prepare for this, if you have any regular payments, direct debits, transfers, or future travel bookings where you’ve used your American Express Card to hold the booking, please ensure these are changed to your Mastercard by this date.
Until then, you can continue to use your American Express Card as you normally would with no change to the points earned per $1 spent or to the benefits you currently receive.
There'll be no change to the benefits on your Mastercard
You’ll continue to earn 1.25 Awards points per $1 spent using your Mastercard, which is accepted at over 43 million business locations2 worldwide, making it easy to earn points. There'll be no change to the points you've already earned or to your annual fee,3 and you can continue to enjoy all your benefits including international travel insurance when you activate your cover in NetBank or the CommBank app before you travel.4
We're here to assist you
We’ll contact you again before 1 November to remind you about this important change. In the meantime, you can find out more at commbank.com.au/amexclosure or contact your Relationship Manager.
Yours sincerely,
Commonwealth Bank |
