Williams Landing
What's happening on the Williams Landing Project
This page provides details of works on the Williams Landing Project.
Out of hours works, March 2012
Major works on the project will occur throughout the month of March 2012.
Works on Williams Landing station
The next stage of works will be carried out:
each night between the hours of 9pm and 7am from Friday 2 March through to Friday 23 March 2012
8pm from Friday 23 March 2012 until 7am Tuesday 27 March 2012.
These works will involve the installation of overhead structures and the commissioning of a new section of track.
Works on Palmers Road and Wallace Avenue
Also, throughout March 2012, there will be ongoing construction works to extend and widen Palmers Road. There will also be piling works to construct foundations for a new footbridge on Wallace Avenue.
All works will occur on Palmers Road and Wallace Avenue during the hours of:
7am to 6pm - Monday to Friday
7am to 2.30pm - Saturday
Machinery such as excavators and trucks will be used and residents may experience some construction noise. All efforts will be made by Abigroup to minimise noise and disruptions.
Please note there will be no disruptions to train services as a result of these works.
Ongoing works
One lane closed on Palmers Road at Point Cook
One lane will be temporarily closed on Palmers Road to undertake road construction works from December 2011 for up to eight months.
The 200 metre closure will allow the project team to safely complete bridge works on the north-west side of Palmers Road. There is limited space to operate construction equipment clear of traffic without the closure.
Drivers using Palmers Road to access city bound lanes of the Princes Freeway are likely to experience some morning peak delays. However, to ensure delays are kept to a minimum, two lanes will remain open on the access ramp for traffic entering the Princes Freeway.
During the closure, B-double trucks using Palmers Road to travel to Melbourne will be required to access the Freeway from the nearby Forsyth Road interchange.
Refer to the map (PDF, 126.5 KB, 1 p.) for changed traffic conditions and detour route for B-Doubles.
The project team apologises for any inconvenience this may cause and thanks drivers for their patience.
Reduced speed limit on the Princes Freeway between Forsyth Road and Palmers Road
An 80 km/h road work speed zone will apply on the Princes Freeway in both directions between Forsyth Road and Palmers Road. These speed restrictions will be in place until late 2012.
The reduced speed limit is required as there will be no emergency lanes in this section of the freeway.
We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause, and encourage motorists to drive carefully through the area.
